You spell angel Jess. Yes Thank you so very much Jess for the wonderful package of goodies. You see, I never received my package from my partner so Jess willingly became my angel and Wow did she send some really cool stuff. First of all There was Noro sock yarn in a purple black and Green color way. The really cool thing is I have this same colorway in a top down sweater so the I will now have matching socks. Which for me is huge. I love to match. She also sent me some Lorna's lace sock yarn in mixed berries. She also sent some yummy chocolate. A lake Superior T shirt ( my daughter commandeered that) A neat tote bag a Mountain colors sock pattern some neat sheep buttons, and little black sheep, and a candle holder. Again thanks so much I love everything and thanks so much for being willing to be my angel.

So I'm wondering if there are any others out there that are a bit bummed like me? I have always loved this swap and I have more fun collecting items for my partner and then knitting the socks. I love seeing what everyone else gets. And its just as much fun to see my partner loves her goodies and socks. But now I have to admit I am totally bummed. I have not received anything from my partner except a couple email months ago.I sure hope everyone else has gotten there goodies because its a real bummer if you didn't. Sockless in Idaho

I got my Socks Yaaa!!!! They fit perfectly and are warm, it has been a little cold here lately. I am wearing them right now.
They came with some very cool yarn, Lavender soap, lotion, lavender scents and black licorice.

Received the package in from my swap partner for the Sockittometwice swap. She sent a pair of socks, gorgeous, smoochy sock yarn (really feels nice, can't wait to use it) 4 skeins of cotton classic (which I love) a Loopy ewe project bag (can't have enough) a book called shadow knitting, a sock pattern, starbucks coffee and some stitch markers. I returned from Spring Break Vacation to find one of those wonderful orange slips from the Post Office. I went on my lunch hour and guess what I had!

I completely forgot to post this picture with the rest of my SITMA haul. It's certainly not because I don't appreciate it, quite the opposite in fact! Michelle made this little project bag for me. As soon as I opened the box, I grabbed the project bag and the chocolate and ran out the door. I did take the time to throw in this project - little bell bottoms for my two year old. Hee hee. It's the perfect size for little projects. I always seem to have my hands full of kid stuff (and kids), so something small to take a project in is perfect for me.

I'm not much of a seamstress (not at all in fact) but I can tell that this was a tricky little bag to make. Michelle is way out of my league when it comes to sewing! Thank you very much!

Michelle sent me this awesome package. I actually received it last week, but due to a very hectic last few weeks, I just haven't been able to blog it. Michelle went above and beyond the call of duty, sending me a new package every month. It's been so much fun seeing what's in the boxes. This box contained a rice mix (not pictured), sock blockers (yippie!), Alpaca Sox yarn, a little chocolate dragon, a CO Springs postcard, socks, and some yummy chocolate (not pictured, it's in my purse and is being put to good use. I even used the chocolate as a bribe for my 2 year old during my Grandma's memorial service last week.)

Here's a close up of the socks. They're a cool spiral pattern (she also sent me the pattern) but Michelle used the latest Cat Bordhi book for the heel and gusset shaping. Thanks again for everything Michelle!

Dear Secret Sock Pal,

I love my package. What fun yarns, I can't wait to start thinking about what I might make with them...the Collinette Jitterbug has exciting reds and browns and pinks, the Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock in Liberty is so fun!! I'm absolutely thrilled with the Knit Picks circular #3 and the book about making socks on one circ...I'm game, for sure.

I've never tried MeiMei dpns so that will be great. The KnitScene with patterns for plus sized sweaters is a keeper for sure.

And...sock pal...my socks fit perfectly. I love the colors and the knitting is so professional!

Packet two from my pal

My second swap it to me twice packet was waiting for me last night when I came home from a 13 hrs job trip. Like the first packet also this one made me stunned. Look at all my partner Yvonne in Germany sent me. It was like Christmas Eve to wrap up one thing after another. I`d lovely Jaywalkers, 4 skeins of divè cotton/viscose yarn which I`ve never had before, scrapbooking items, ribbons, candles, mocca insence sticks, bath salt, face mask and the cutest little sheep. Thanks a lot from the bottom of my heart to my partner Yvonne. Both packets were a lot more than I expected. I`m moved to tears when seeing a partner put their heart into making such wonderful packets for strangers. You are the best Yvonne. :)

My partner had knitted lovely Jaywalkers for me. The color is just gorgeous and fitted me perfectly well. :)

About a week or so ago I got the first packet from my swap partner in Germany. I was stunned from all she sent me, two skeins of lovely yarn, some homespun (I think) and some from Austerman Step with Aloe Vera and Jojoba oil, which I`ve never had before. I also got Wintermärchen tea, which is new to me but smells wonderful and I`m sure it taste great too (will have one or more cup(s) tonight), Hachez chocolate which I`ve either never tasted, knitting needles, lovely stitch markers, stempelset (I collect rubberstamps),three soap bars which smells lovely. Thanks a lot for all what you sent me. Loved it all.

Hi everyone!

I'm very happy to see some great packages coming in. I know a few people are late, but there has been an inordinate amount of people flaking or not communicating in this swap. I apologize for my absence, so now is the time to email me, (if you haven't already), and let me know if you have NOT received any swap items. I've already sent out a few "reminders". I will give everyone 24 hours to reply. If I don't hear back from them, I will be contacting angels. So far there will be three that I need. I do apologize. It seems that while I've been MIA a few people have dropped off the face of the Earth.

I've been very neglectful in posting that I received my package from my pal. She sent me a very lovely package. I'll post more later with photos. I did make sure that I thanked her immediately.

I've yet to hear from the Betty who is the pal that was assigned to me. I mailed her package out approximately two weeks ago and haven't heard a peep. I should have put mail confirmation on the parcel but didn't. It's very frustrating to work very hard on the socks and gathering everything together to not hear a word if the package was even received. I have sent several emails to her but have yet to hear anything back.

So Betty, please please let me know if you received the parcel.

Last night a little package came for me. I decided to wait until I was home from work this morning to open it. I'm so glad I did, because I had a total night from hell at work last night. What was in the package? An amazing pair of socks from my spoiler, Sandy!! Thank you, thank you so much, Sandy. The socks fit like a dream and I love them so much!

The socks are CTH Supersock DK in Caribou Creek. Not a yarn I would have bought for myself, but I really love the colors. She also send me a bath 'cookie' in a chocolate scent, and a really cook pair of chopsticks! Thanks again, Sandy. All of your packages have been great and you've been a great pal!

Sorry I'm so late in posting this. My internet has been sketchy and after a week of trying to get someone out here to look at it, it somehow fixed itself. My package arrived last Thursday and wooo boy was I spoiled! I can't find my camera so I can't post a picture, but it was like a never ending package of goodies! Chocolate and yarn and sock knitting bags and notions! My daughter kept pulling more and more out of the box. It was like Christmas! Great big super thanks to Cheryl W. I am SO excited! I received my package today from my pal, Cindy W!! I think she incorporated everything I ever said I liked. The entire package is AMAZING. The lizard project bag - love it! Beautiful handknit socks - and they fit! A wonderful tool kit - because I'm obsessed with gadgets. 2 skeins of sock yarn that I've been drooling over since I started knitting. Socks that Rock in Hwy 30 colorway and Yarntini in Mimosa (and I love mimosas!). Not to mention coffee, tea and chocolates. Thank you, Cindy!!

Sorry for the blurry picture! My pal just sent me this wonderful package. 2 pounds of fantabulous coffee - it's the type that is so strong just smelling it in the morning gives me a buzz! A cool mug to drink it out of, a fun cookbook, wonderful Penzey's Spices...
There's also my favorite chocolate bar (that will be hidden and quietly hoarded) and 2 super sweet bags for my girls. I noticed that I have a little eco-conscious 3 1/2 year old - she took her froggy bag with her "shopping" last night. It was full of play food at bedtime.

Hello ladies. I apologize for my lack of posting, I've been in and out of surgery, interviewing for babysitters, dealing with a fussy 1 year old who has four new teeth coming in, and trying to keep up with all of my swap/knitting/sewing/beading obligations. Life is rough!

My pal sent my an awesome package, I couldn't believe how much yarny goodness came out of this flatrate box:

4 skeins Lion Brand Homespun, 3 skeins Lion Brand Lion Wool Prints and 3 skeins Lion Brand Moonlight Mohair.

Now I just hope that my allergies don't stop me from knitting the wool, sometimes I'm having asthma when knitting commercial wool yarns. But I just love the colors and will try to create something with it for sure.

Blocking

I blocked the lace for the cuff of my Frilly Lace Socks. I thought you all might be interested in seeing it. Blocking was definitely the right way to go. I'm not sure that it made it much easier to pick up the stitches along the bottom, but it definitely defined the points on the lace and makes it look better.

am relatively new to sock knitting, so could some one help me

I have a pattern for my swap pal, but its for size us8 and shes a us10
I have her foot measurements, so can do length etc, but how can i adjust the circumference?
its a multiples of 13 stitch pattern, and it says to cast on 52 stitches, do i just cast on an extra 13? im also converting the pattern to circs instead of dpns!!!

am i mad!!!!

Has anyone done the Frilly Lace Sock from Lorna's Laces? Should I block the lace before I graft the ends together and pick up the slipped stitches to work on the main part of the sock? My gut is telling me that blocking would make it easier, but I'm wondering if anyone has words of advice.

A Package from Norway

I had a nice little surprise in my mailbox when I got home today - a package from my spoiler all the way from Norway! I've taken photos and hope to get them posted on my blog tomorrow. It was a wonderful surprise and I am completely and totally enthralled with the marzipan pig! It is too cute for words. Of course coming from Norway, it needed a customs form on it. And a return address. But knitters aren't stupid - there was no concealing the country of origin, but my spoiler has still very cleverly kept her identity hidden... The name on the return address is "Linda". There is no "Linda" on the list... Clever! Thank you, spoiler!
P.S. I also received another swap package today from a different swap from Cheryl who is also playing along with us all in SITMT. Pop by over the weekend (once I've had a chance to upload the photos) so that you can all hope that she might be your spoiler in this swap!

Santa Arrived!

Santa came to my house this morning. I received a fantastic package from my pal. It was jam packed with cookie and bar mixes (what a fantastic idea!), a rice mix, neat stitch markers (you can never have enough!), some yummy looking peach jam, yarn. Mmmm... and the girls are fighting over who will get the red M&M lip gloss! There was more... I'll have to take pictures tonight when I have more time. I'll update my blog tomorrow, but wanted to say Thank You to my swap partner! She was so sweet that she included the package from the chocolate chips to make sure that my dairy allergic kid can eat the bars. :) What a sweetie!!

I am fairly certain that I got everyone's points, (Melanie, please re-email the first one you sent as I never got it and I'd like to add up your points). But please, double check! There is a very good chance I might have missed your blog and forgotten a point. (Please remember that duplicate links don't get points. So if someone linked a pattern for you, you will NOT get a point for yours.)

Also, regarding sock patterns. I've decided to do a "special" contest. It's easy, but you must follow it through! If you should to use one of the many, many, many patterns on the sidebar as your sock pals socks you will get 25 points. Here's the catch, you will need to post a picture of your finished socks, (they can be black and white so that you don't have to show the finished color picture), on THIS blog. There will be NO deadline. You will need to include your picture and the name of the pattern that's featured on the link.

Secondly, I've decided to incorporate a little fundraising. (This is totally voluntary, by the way.) I would like to collect a few pair of socks to donate to charity here in Los Angeles. Somewhere like the Salvation Army or a church that helps the homeless. We've had a fairly cold month here, which as most of you know is not normal. I'm hoping we can possibly donate to some of the families that lost their homes in the fires. If you would like to donate all you have to do is make a pair of socks, any size. They can be big, little, whatever goes. All I ask is that they are washable and that you make a little tag saying who they are from and what size shoe they will fit. When you are done, email me and I will send you my address. Because this is knitting from your heart, and out of some peoples pockets, I will give 20 points for every pair donated (adult size) and 10 points for every pair of children's socks/booties.

1. Do NOT worry that your points have not been added to the sidebar. I am still reading blogs and enjoying everyone's "Grateful" posts. I am also slowly adding everyone's sock contributions. We have been uber lucky to have so many great ones. I have to check and double check because there have been duplicates and I need to make sure everyone will get credit.

2. Again, if you have NOT heard from your spoiler or spoilee, contact me immediately. We have a few people have yet to respond to emails/blog comments. At this time I'd also like to state, if you really can NOT commit to this swap please back down now. I do NOT want to deal with missing, or no show, packages. Everyone deserves to have fun. Remember that the basis of this swap is to COMMUNICATE. We all like emails/cards/snail mail/comments, so please be generous.

3. BLOG BUTTON CONTEST: Last round we had a wonderful participant who made buttons without me asking. This round I'd like to hold a contest. Make a "Sock It To Me Twice" blog button, send me the link/jpeg and get 10 points. You may send up to two buttons. I will add them to the link list and then you can put them on your blogs! So be creative. Use any color! Use any font! Use any graphics! Contest will end on November 30th.

More Contest Fun

Being that Thanksgiving is tomorrow and many of you will be out of town I am going to post the rules for two contests!

Contest 1: Thanksgiving

All you have to do for this contest is blog about what you are grateful for. (Even if you do not celebrate Thanksgiving, you can still blog.) You must include 10 things you are grateful for. You will earn 5 points for posting on your blog. You can earn another point for each picture you post on your blog that pertains to the things that you are grateful for. Blog posts must be up by November 24th, (Saturday), 12 p.m. PST. Please comment on the blog so you can receive your points.

Contest 2: Sock Pattern Challenge

This contest will help us collect a large number of patterns. All you have to do is to leave a comment with the link to a sock pattern. It can be easy, it can be hard. It should be free. For every pattern you contribute you will earn 1 point each. You can enter as many as you want. But, there can not be duplicates. So please check the comments before leaving yours. Challenge starts November 21st, (today), at 6 p.m. PST and will end on November 25th, (Sunday), at 12 p.m. PST.

You should be able to leave comments on their blog. If you don't allow anonymous comments, please change your settings. Your pal should be able to leave comments on your blog. Alright everyone, matches have been sent. I've had two emails bounce back to me. Please email me if you didn't receive your match. All information has been sent to your secret email accounts. In the emails there will be your spoilee's name, address and blog address. It is up to you to get their emails. 37 and counting

Good morning everyone!

We have 37 participants and, technically, the swap is now closed. BUT, I need at least one more swapper to make our count even before I can assign partners. So I'm hoping by the end of the day we will have one, or more, swapper interested.

Important: I'd like everyone to check their name on the sidebar and make sure that their website links work. I copied and pasted whatever you sent in your emails, so they may, or may not be, correct. Please email me and let me know if they are wrong so that I can change them, both on the blog and on your contact information.

I will post the questionnaire on Friday. Please post it within the week, so your pal can see it on the top of your blog when assignments are emailed.

And I wanted to let you know: There will be a change in the contests. Instead of doing one a month and a drawing, I've decided to go by a point system. Every week, (hopefully), I will post on the blog a question/comment/something... All you will need to do is post the answer either on here or the blog. (I will give better instructions when the time comes.) I will keep track of everyone's points. At the end of the swap there will be a total of 5 winners, (with the most points). Some of the prizes will be: 1 skein of Socks that Rock, 2 skeins of Koigu, an Accessory kit, (which will include knitting needle cases, stitch markers and notions), Cookie A. sock patterns, and a subscription to either Vogue Knitting or Interweave Knits.

So I hope everyone will play because this is going to be a lot of fun.

Part Deux

Here it is knitters. Round two of the Sock It To Me Sock Swap.

The knitty gritty:

Sign Ups: Swappers that participated in the first round will get open invitations first. (We know they are loyal!) Official sign ups will open October 21st and end November 15th. I will only be accepting 50 participants, so if we get 50 before the sign up date ends, I will pair everyone up early.

Sign Up Requirements: First, you must be a sock knitter. (Or crocheter if you are just that good.) Second, you must have an active blog. This means you post 4, or more, times a month. (I'm the blog police!) Third, you will need to set up a secret email account.

Swap Requirements: This swap will be running from November 15th to March 1st. I am giving a little extra time, due to the holiday seasons. (Please be advised that if you will be on vacation, I would appreciate you shooting either me, or your swap pal, a quick email. This way no one thinks that they are getting flaked on while their swap partner is in the Bahamas soaking up the sun.)

You are required to not only post to your blog, but email your partner. Please be generous. Most of us like a lot of communication from our pals.

Now onto the goodies: Packages sent to your pal should contain a hand knit pair of socks, along with a few goodies. The minimum allowance on spending is $60 over the three and a half month period. This does NOT include the yarn/pattern for the socks you knit your pal. The way to find out what your pal likes is simple: Read her questionnaire, (which will be provided on the 15th), and read her blog. Some ideas: stitch markers, knitting/crochet patterns/books, sweet treats, candles, bath items, other handknit items, CD's...
